Monitor Online (Kampala, Uganda) covered the recent news of a $500,000 grant from USAID to the Hutchinson Center to help construct the first U.S. cancer clinic in Africa, a collaboration between the Hutchinson Center and the Uganda Cancer Institute.

Associated Press ran a story about the Hutchinson Center/Uganda Cancer Institute collaboration to study and treat infectious disease-related cancers. The story quoted Dr. Corey Casper, an assistant member of VIDI and co-director of the Uganda Program for Cancer and Infectious Diseases, as well as current and former Ugandan physician trainees Drs. Fred Okuku and Amos Mwaka, who have come here to study with Dr. Casper and colleagues.
